A partnership has been struck between entrepreneur Vincent Bollore, and the Mayor of Paris, Betrand Delonoe. This will lead to the development of a bubble car, named the Bluecar. It will be an EV, and will become an important feature of the city of love from October onwards, providing tourists with green transportation means.

Start of something huge for EV?

This move can be compared to the Velib bicycle scheme, launched in 2007, and was met with huge success.

A driving license is all you need to get started. The cars costs between 4-8 Euros for half an hour, and 10 Euros for a full day. A year pass will be available for only 144 Euros - incredible value. You can drive as much as you like, so long as you drop it off at a recharge station once you have finished.

Almost 70 cars have already been let loose in Paris, as well as over 30 recharge points. The project is hugely ambitious, and hopes to have 3000 Bluecars and 1000 stations in place by the holiday season. This will be one of the largest green transportation moves in history. lets hope it's a great success, and catches on elsewhere.
